A large pair of Japanese “big-eye” ex-navy observation binoculars mounted on a vintage adjustable wooden Carl Zeiss design tripod. Most probably made by Nikko, these beautiful World War II marine binoculars stamped 17 72 to the mount are predominately used for viewing the horizon, the optics give outstanding visual clarity and are equal or better than any similar modern binocular. With 100mm objective lenses and 15 magnification, the eyepieces can be adjusted for focus and the binoculars are a one-piece body casting for increased rigidity with exterior ports for charging the interiors with inert gas to expel moisture. They are fully restored to original working order and give a very good optical performance.
Condition: some tarnishing but overall excellent. Lenses are clear
Dimensions (at lowest tripod setting): 65cm deep, 29cm wide, 123cm high
