Of enormous proportions, these rifles were made as “training guns“ as demonstrators for troops. Rather than showing individuals how the rifle worked they were able to demonstrate the mechanism (assembling, disassembling, cleaning, firing, etc) of the rifle to entire halls of troops, hence the cutaway sections which show the recoil system, the bolt and the cartridge chamber.
This particular model is a Browning Automatic Rifle .30 calibre designed by Robert Browning in 1917. It was a powerful semi and fully automatic rifle used by the American Army right up to and including the Second World War. A massive 240cm wide, this particular model would have been produced in Chicago around 1940. It has been recondition and chromed to make for one of the most dramatic and eye-catching pieces of military history and interior design one could imagine.
Condition: reconditioned, perfect
Dimensions: 240cm wide, 30cm deep, 63cm high (with sight)
