The Djinn chair is an important design of the Modernist style, created by French designer Olivier Mourgue. Originally called the "Low fireside chair", it is also commonly referred to as the "2001" chair because of its prominent appearance in the Stanley Kubrick’s classic film: “2001: A Space Odyssey”. Many examples have not stood the test of time. Olivier Mourgue famously said “things should have a short life“ back in 1965 when he was just 26 years old. However, this wonderful example is covered in supple red leather and is almost as perfect as the day it left the factory.
Condition: some slight fraying to some of the stitching at the back but not significant. Upholstery is sound and structurally intact.
Dimensions: 67cm high, 70cm deep, 70cm wide; seat height: 35cm
