A floor lamp by Lanciotto Galeotti, Italy, circa 1980
A exceptional late 1970s / early 1980s Hollywood Regency floor lamp by Lanciotto Galeotti for L' Originale, in Florence, Italy. An extremely high quality gilded bronze and brass sculpture that is mounted on a round black marble base. The stem of the lamp has applied herons, typical of Galeotti’s most famous and revered design, often compared and likened to the famous Maison Charles lighting in France, producing lamps in the same period of a similar style.
Lanciotto Galeotti was born in 1945 and when he began working he came into contact with numerous Florentine artisans that provided him with his first work experiences. It was exactly in these shops that his creativity had free rein and he focused on creating interior lighting decor, home furnishing accessories and jewellery. His acquaintance with various Florentine sculptors led him to try his hand at sculpting clay and plasticine which, over the years, extended to metals like brass and bronze. This would turn out to be the original hallmark of his own work. All his items are entirely made in the Sesto Fiorentino workshop, a stones throw from Florence. He combined high quality materials with his skilful workmanship and craftsmanship. Hand ground Tuscan crystals, turned Carrara marble and Murano glass are combined with bronze and brass castings. The uniqueness of the company's products are the result of research, passion, and experience, their products perfectly combining prestige and elegance.
