A rattan palm tree floor lamp by Mario Lopez Torres, Mexico, 1970s
A wonderful mid 20th century palm tree floor lamp with woven coconut shades. This impressive floor light was designed by the Mexican artist Mario Lopez Torres who was well known for his sculptural wicker creations in the mid 1970s and sold by selected galleries in Europe and the US. The lamp is entirely realised by hand in wicker and rattan, emitting a fantastic ambient light as well as being a sculptural statement piece of vintage mid century design. Wicker and rattan is a popular choice of vintage design for many designers. It gives a warm feel to any modern or mid-century interior, evoking a tropical delight.
