A wonderful metamorphic butler’s table, mid to late 19th century. Beautiful mahogany, perfect cantilever mechanism works just as well today as it did 150 years ago. The idea was that these tables stood to the side of the dining room and would be used by the butler to help serve the guests at the dinner table. As and when, with a very simple but beautiful mechanism, this simple table could be turned in seconds into a three tier serving table, thus trebling the surface area. On original ceramic castors, it is both a beautiful piece of furniture as well as versatile and useful.
Condition: some light staining to top, please see photos
Dimensions: table top: 120cm x 52cm, height: 75cm when closed, 110cm when open
