A walnut sideboard by Elliots of Newbury, England, circa 1960

£995.00

A wonderful and very rare mid century sideboard, made in England around the 1960s. The rarity is in the detail and it shows British cabinetmaking at its finest and most adventurous. The sideboard is made out of walnut and features cool sculpted wood drawer pulls and elegant H-style door handles. Although the sideboard looks perfectly symmetrical, the “tromp l’oeil“ stack of drawers to the right hand side are a disguised sliding door, giving the illusion of symmetry when the doors are closed and maintaining the precious cupboard space which the sideboards of the period were intended for.

This delightful and long sideboard was made by RHF (Royal Heritage Furniture) and was designed by Elliots of Newbury (EON). EON Furniture has been noted for many years for its sound construction and excellent design. Functional, beautiful and stylish, it is a wonderful piece of mid century design that would add a little retro chic to any interior.
