A lovely and complete antique solid silver dinner service for ten persons in solid silver and plated in gold, made by Tiffany, USA, early 20th century. Shell & Thread was first introduced by Tiffany in 1905. Its design is typical of patterns made in England during the long reign of King George III. The raised-border edges, which accentuate the classic “fiddle” shape of the pattern, along with the superbly balanced shell motif give Shell & Thread the great advantage of being at home practically anywhere. This versatility and the beauty of Shell & Thread make it Tiffany’s most popular classic pattern. The elegant fiddle, thread and shell pattern stems, comprises of dinner forks, soup spoons, dinner knives (with steel blades), fruit forks, fruit knives (with steel blades), dessert spoons, oyster forks, and finally a serving spoon and fork. A superb statement of taste and luxury to any dinner table.
