A silver mounted glass vase by Cartier, France, late 20th century
stablished in Paris in 1847, Cartier is regarded as one of the most prestigious jewellers in the world. Cartier has a long history of sales to royalty. King Edward VII of Great Britain referred to Cartier as "the jeweller of kings and the king of jewellers." For his coronation in 1902, Edward VII ordered 27 tiaras and issued a royal warrant to Cartier in 1904. Similar warrants soon followed from the courts of Spain, Portugal, Serbia, Russia and the House of Orleans.
The prestige of Cartier has spanned through the decades, its timeless designs have always encapsulated the mood and set the trends of each era. The solid silver rim of this vase bears the Minerva hallmark, denoting their French origins and the high grade of silver utilised in their manufacturing process and to the underside, the infamous “C“ for Cartier etched into the glass. This wonderful vase is as fashionable today as it was when it was produced. Its timeless simple design would adorn any modern or traditional setting and can be used for flowers but could also double up as a wine cooler.
