A solid silver toiletry set by Hermes, France, early 20th century
A very elegant toiletry set made out of solid silver, retailed by Hermes in the first half of the 20th century. The detail is exquisite, having engine turned finish to all six items, the lid of each engraved with the coat of arms of a noble French family. Comprising of three containers for perfume and a further three containers for cream, these items could also have a good modern alternative for use as hip flasks and pill boxes, each container sealed with a watertight lid. The workmanship is exquisite as you would expect from Hermes, the famous French maker of luxury items.
Hermes barely needs any introduction: it is probably the most famous firm in the world known principally for its workmanship of leather goods of the highest quality. The French luxury goods manufacturer established in 1837 specializes in leather goods, lifestyle accessories, home furnishings, perfumery, jewellery, watches and ready-to-wear items. It has had a string of notable designers over the years, including household names like Jean-Paul Gaultier.
