A beautiful and very rare pair of Old Sheffield plate two light candelabra. Old Sheffield Plate is the process of fusing a layer of silver on to a layer of copper. The process was discovered by Thomas Boulsover in 1742 and is highly sought after due to its rarity and age as it was superseded by cheaper electroplate in the early 1840's. These exceptional antique old Sheffield plate candelabra with shell and gadroon decorations with a flared stem decorated with acanthus leaves.

Condition: some wear to the highest points, very faint dents in places, sconce lacking on the middle light. Please refer to photographs
