A fantastic late 20th century taxidermy study of a polar bear (usrus maritimus). The polar bear is one of the world’s largest and most dangerous carnivores. The threat of extinction due to the melting of Arctic ice and the threat to its natural habitat is now considered to have been exaggerated and polar bear numbers do not seem to have fallen as dramatically as was once feared. Stuffed polar bears have always aroused much interest and recently an entire illustrated book on specimens in Britain was produced. This specimen shows incredible realism and is extremely well preserved.
