A superb large Indian tiger skin (scientific name: panthera tigris tigris), circa 17th November 1927, Ramgarh, Sivalik Hills, Northern India, probably by Kalloo & Son, Calcutta, India. This is a massive adult male skin rug with head mount, jaw agape in aggressive pose, ears laid back, mounted upon red canvas backing material, bearing a Hindi text printed label to the reverse. Nose to tail 307cm, across the forelimbs 213cm, including a seven page typed diary entry describing the ten day hunt in detail. CITES Annex A, Appendix I
Condition: some damage to the felt borders, some repairs to the skin itself. Some “crinkling“ to the skin overall but altogether in good condition.
