A woolley mammoth tusk, Siberia, Pleistocene era
A Siberian woolly mammoth tusk (Mammuthus primigenius) in very good original condition. Dating to the pleistocene era (between 12,000 and 2.5 million years ago), this tusk was recovered from the Siberian permafrost in recent years and is presented in the natural original condition that it was found in. Measuring an impressive 155cm along the curve, the tusk would probably have belonged to a juvenile mammoth.
It has not been injected with resin or put into pressure chambers. There has been no restoration work carried out to the tusk and the patina, structure and colour variations on this tusk are incredible, a beautiful piece on a custom made stand ready to adorn any home, office or library.
