One of the most unusual items we’ve ever come across: an early 20th century water jug or vessel fashioned from hippopotamus leather, a hippopotamus tusk handle, the metalwork depicting flora with a mix of silver plate, copper and brass, decorated with multicoloured cabochons, possibly the work of an English smith. No identifying marks but certainly one of the most showstopping items to come to the market in recent years.

Condition: some restoration to trunk and crack to the tusk handle. Metalwork perfect
