A stunning Louis Vuitton hat trunk in stencilled monogrammed canvas with leather and brass trim, France, circa 1910. This trunk is a must have item for any elite traveller harking back to times of passenger ships and 1st class travel of bygone eras. The brass fittings were “top of the range” at Louis Vuitton at the time and today makes for a great conversation piece, a great size for a coffee table or side table suitable for any interior, both modern or traditional.

This trunk used to belong to a famous Hungarian actress and opera singer, namely Joanna Buska Neumann. After engagements at the Burgtheater and an affair with the Austrian Crown Prince Rudolf she married on 20 May 1880, the Hungarian nobleman Miklós Kázmér (Nikolaus Casimir) Török de Szendrő. During the four-year marriage, a child was born, possibly from Rudolf. After Töröks death, the actress married the Prague theater director and singer Angelo Neumann . She returned to the stage and played among others in 1888 in Prague Ibsen's Nora ; At the beginning of the twentieth century she appeared in Schoenthan's comedy The Colorful Rock .

Johanna Buska's first marriage inspired Theodor Fontane to write his novel Count Petofy . The Weimar Classic and Art Collections Foundation keeps a letter from Johanna Buska to Julius Rodenberg ; in the Austrian National Library are a number of autographs of the actress, in particular from the collection Otto Frankfurter. The Alfred-Reucker archive of the Akademie der Künste also contains autographs and photos by Johanna Buska from the time of the death of Angelo Neumann in December 1910.
