Antique 20th Century Edwardian solid silver monumental cup & cover, campana form, particularly large and heavy gauge, applied with foliage, cast scroll handles with realistically modelled maidens heads thumbpieces, both sides decorated with mythological scenes of Neptune and Amphitrite flanked by cherubs, merman and sea horses. The cover also chased and applied with scrolls and flowers and a rather large artichoke scroll finial.
Each part is Hallmarked English silver (925 standard), London, year 1907 (m), Maker's mark C.F.H & CO (C F Hancock & Co, a retail jeweller in London, founded on January 1, 1849 by Charles F. Hancock, a former partner of Storr & Mortimer. The first shop was opened at a corner of Bruton Street and New Bond Street, in London. It has moved several times since then. Hancocks has become notable for the manufacture of the Victoria Cross medals and also for the various Royal Warrants that it holds.)
